I did my research and first ordered an OXO to replace embarrassingly old grinder, which I believe is a quality grinder; however, it is just too big for our kitchen. After lots more searching, I came across the Aligain brand. Their website calls the BD-CG015S their starter model as I recall. There were no reviews on Amazon, so I had to find some on another site. Customers seem pleased. On the box, the following features are listed: 51 grind settings, anti static (after first use, not a problem) durable conical burrs (stainless steel), low speed grinding (buttons allow me to adjust up or down. Still learning), easy to clean and quiet grinding (verified quiet during first use). I looked at the even grind and feel I owe generations of guests an apology). The box also has an RoHS compliant stamp to indicate that materials comply with restriction of hazardous substances. I recall reading that the plastic used is BPA free. I drink standard black coffee either a rich medium roast or at times a darker roast. My first cup was smooth and rich. I took advantage of a sale but the price is right anyway. The design is simple, which is fine with me. Seems sturdy. So far I feel good about this purchase and the coffee I will be drinking.
